Fire-Rated Door Enquiries: What to Confirm Before Comparing Quotations
A fire-door photograph cannot prove a rating. Start with the project requirement and review the offered assembly and documentation as a set.
Published 2026-10-29

Fire-rated doors are specified for an opening and a project requirement. A catalogue photograph can help discuss appearance, but it does not establish a tested rating or show which components were included in a particular test. Ask for a model-specific proposal before comparing prices.
Prepare the project brief
Provide the destination market, the required standard or rating stated in your project documents, the intended use of the opening and a door schedule. For each opening, record dimensions, quantity, handing and whether glazing or special hardware is needed. If the project has an architect or fire consultant, use their written requirement as the starting point.
Review the offered assembly
- Door and frame: identify the proposed model, construction and permitted size range.
- Components: confirm glazing, seals, hinges, closer, lock, threshold and other hardware for the offered assembly.
- Documents: ask for the applicable test or certification evidence, labels and installation information relevant to the selected configuration and destination.
- Installation: establish who supplies the frame and who is responsible for installation and inspection on site.
- Commercial scope: compare packing, shipping terms, lead time and exclusions alongside the door price.
Do not generalise from one certificate
Documentation must be checked against the actual offered model and configuration. A rating for one assembly should not be assumed to cover a different size, glazing arrangement, frame or hardware set. We discuss available documentation during the quotation process; original certificate files are not published openly on this website.
Use a schedule for multiple openings
A project door schedule prevents a single quotation line from hiding different opening needs. Give each opening an ID and record its location, dimensions, required performance and proposed configuration. Review variations before approving production.
Start with the fire-door enquiry checklist and explore fire-rated door references. The final specification and documentation should be agreed for the selected order.
Plan your door purchase
Use these notes as a starting point. Confirm the construction, selected model, finish, components and delivery scope in your written quotation.
